Annual Leave

Annual leave is the paid time off an employee earns each year. In the UAE private sector the entitlement is 30 calendar days a year after one year of service, and two days a month between six months and a year. Unused leave is typically paid out on the basic-salary portion when you leave.

When you resign or change jobs, accrued but untaken leave is usually settled in your final pay, calculated on basic salary, so it interacts with your end-of-service math. Check how your contract handles carry-over and encashment, since practice varies by employer within the legal minimum. Entitlements differ across Gulf countries and can change, so verify current rules with the relevant labour authority. How pay and leave feed your Gulf package: Gulf salary package guide.
