Job Description

A job description is the employer's posting of the role: its responsibilities, required skills and qualifications, and sometimes the seniority and reporting line. It is your single best guide to what a CV must show, because recruiters and applicant tracking systems filter against the exact requirements and vocabulary it contains.

Read it as a checklist, not a wish list. Separate the must-haves from the nice-to-haves, note the repeated phrases and named tools, and mirror that vocabulary honestly in your CV so keyword matching finds you. If a requirement is essential and you lack it, address it or move on rather than hoping it is overlooked. This is the raw material for tailoring. How to turn a posting into a targeted CV: how to tailor your CV.
