Fit Score

A fit score is a percentage or rating that expresses how closely a CV matches one specific job description, based on the overlap of skills, keywords, job titles, and requirements. Many applicant tracking systems and matching tools compute one to rank or shortlist applicants, and a higher score generally means a stronger match to that particular posting.

The key thing to understand is that a fit score is relative to one job, not a fixed grade on your CV. The same CV can score high for one role and low for another, which is exactly why tailoring to each posting raises it. Chasing keywords blindly backfires; matching genuine, relevant skills to the job's requirements is what moves the number honestly. How the underlying matching works is covered under ATS.
